Brant Beach

Explore the neighborhood of Brant Beach and learn about real estate trends, history, and what makes the town unique

Neighborhood summary

Brant Beach is one of the largest sections of Long Beach Township and there are a lot of homes that trade in this neighborhood due to its size. Many people consider this in biking distance to Beach Haven. Generally speaking it is a narrow section of the island and there are many streets that have short walks to the ocean even from the bay side. Some bay blocks only have one or two houses on them or even have none. This makes the section unique and attractive for people looking for a quiet beach on the south end of LBI. Brant is home to some of townships core amenities such as Bayview Park which hosts paddle board and windsurfing rentals + has a guarded bay beach. There is also pickle ball and basketball courts, a dog park, and beach concerts all in town. Brant is great for those who love the south end but want convenient access to the bridge.

Fun Fact: 68th street in Brant Beach is the first beach to open in the spring with a lifeguard on duty in Long Beach Township.

History

Brant Beach started taking shape in the 1890s when a stretch of land just south of Surf City caught the eye of a few ambitious investors. Originally planned to be called “Beach Haven North,” the area was eventually named after the Brant geese that used to flock along the bay. A Philadelphia lawyer named Henry B. McLaughlin saw the potential for a summer destination and ran with it — building a train stop near today’s 60th Street and offering free rides and clam bakes to draw in visitors from the city. Back then, you could scoop up a prime lot for just $50 to $100.
